Oscar is trained as an international lawyer with a keen interest in world cultures, languages, and sports. Through his work in Latin America, Middle East, Asia and The Pacific region, he has gained extensive experience in program design, project management and nurturing partnerships in cross-cultural settings, providing him with unique insights into the strengths people bring to local and global challenges and how different stakeholders can partner together to achieve long-term impact.
In some of his previous roles, he managed the Volunteer Program at the Asylum Seekers Centre in Sydney, enabling the organization to achieve its overall vision and strategic goals, while providing practical and personal support to people seeking asylum in the community. As an International Business Advisor for various international consultancy firms, he helped companies expand their operations in Turkey, Bulgaria and Vietnam. He worked with clients to develop strategies for entering these emerging markets, advised them on how best to adapt their ideas or services to local laws and customs and also assisted in the creation of new business relationships.
Oscar has partaken in projects across the volunteering sector and local councils in Australia with the aim to harness the collective goodwill of volunteers towards shared community goals. In recognition of his work, he was awarded the NSW Excellence in Volunteer Management award in 2019 and he was appointed as a Board Director at the NSW Centre for Volunteering in 2021. He's also a member of various football advisory groups where he provides his knowledge to First Nations teams and encourage more Indigenous youth to participate in the sport.
Recently, Oscar joined ABV as a Program Director and is ready to bring his wealth of experience to ABV's programs.
