MP Kristy McBain Attends ABV Disaster Preparedness Workshops in Eden

MP Kristy McBain joined us in Eden last week to meet with incredible community leaders and businesses on the natural hazards impacting their region and the interventions that they want action to. It was fantastic to meet the 40 incredible community members who participated in the workshops with passion and brought strategies to reduce disaster risk.

This workshop is a part of ABV's Capable Communities Program, delivered in partnership with Disaster Relief Australia and Arup. Over 21 months we will deliver specialist workshops for active community leaders, groups, businesses and members across four at-risk LGAs in Southeast NSW to walk away with robust disaster risk reduction plans and projects and be supported in their implementation.

In these tailored workshops, designed by communities themselves, the focus will be on bringing in required disaster risk reduction and recovery experts, skilled volunteers and facilitators to collaboratively develop authentic plans which draw on local capacity and knowledge, ensuring their communities are well placed in the face of future floods and other hazards.

We couldn't be prouder of this program and the community resilience we can together achieve.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Fund (DRRF) is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments.
