With over 20 years of dedicated experience in community development roles, Michelle has led and contributed to numerous projects focused on social justice and the empowerment of disadvantaged communities. Her background in project and event management has enabled her to effectively mobilise resources, engage stakeholders, and create sustainable programs that improve outcomes for communities.

Throughout her career, Michelle has consistently advocated for marginalised voices, working to ensure their needs are met and their aspirations realised. She finds great fulfilment in fostering inclusive environments that promote social equity and is passionate about collaborating with diverse groups to address systemic challenges. She believes that empowering individuals and communities begins with understanding their roots and creating opportunities for growth and resilience.

Outside of work, Michelle nurtures a love for farming in the High Country, particularly through breeding Hereford cattle and Australian Stock Horses.

With a Hospitality management background, I am always passionate to help others. Working now in a different environment, but in a sense that different, using the skills I have built engaging with clients and guests to provide the best hospitality experience are used now for our volunteers to make sure things are running smoothly.

Before joining ABV, I have worked with NCS (National Catering Service) Clubhouse, Lihir Sports Social Club (LSSC) and other organisations, coordinating functions/events and office administration for 3 years.

I see myself as a customer-oriented person. Working with ABV is challenging but a good experience for me. Getting to learn far more exciting things, engagements and collaborating with local businesses and stakeholders.

''I spent all my life in PNG, at Port Moresby, Lae (Morobe Province), Kainantu (Easter Highlands Province), Kavieng (New Ireland Province -homeland) and now I am here in Lihir Island.

On my weekend off, I spent my time with my two sons, or we go out visiting families and friends or  touring the Lihir island.

Mouna is a seasoned development professional with fifteen years of diverse professional experience spanning various industries and sectors. She is passionate about driving positive change and promoting social inclusion. Her journey has taken her to legal, banking, airline, finance and sports management positions. In the not-for-profit sector, she has had impactful positions in project management, community development, and with humanitarian agencies. Mouna has a global mindset and is passionate about building cross-cultural competency. She completed her postgraduate diploma in business administration and human resource management.

Outside of work, Mouna is a dedicated parent and loves photography, acrylic painting, and sports. She is a former athlete proud to represent PNG and remains active in sports development.
